[00:00:00] What is going on everyone? Thank you so much for hanging out for another episode of Our Brains Hurt
[00:00:04] We appreciate you
[00:00:06] Downloading or streaming whatever you do however you listen
[00:00:08] You rock we have an event September 21st Saturday in
[00:00:14] Hey Market, Virginia at True Vi Brewery. We are releasing our very own our brains hurt
[00:00:20] oatmeal coffee stout come out to the true Vi in Hey Market, Virginia
[00:00:26] We're gonna have a live podcast recording
[00:00:29] You can watch us do the podcast and then we're gonna have some acoustic acts come up and entertain you and
[00:00:35] You will drink beer so what could be better than that September 21st? It's like I said, it's a Saturday True Vi
[00:00:41] Brewery in Hey Market, Virginia. Come on out come drink come watch us be stupid and have some fun
[00:00:48] Now let's get to the show
[00:00:55] They call us again and they gave us 20 bucks and we wrote them a song that said your plan can't stop
[00:01:00] Then they gave us more money and they asked us really nice and we finally gave in and we said all right
[00:01:05] All right, you a song but it's gonna be a clone of a screeching weasel song that we heard a while ago
[00:01:10] So we wrote them a jingle and it sounded really great
[00:01:12] It was the best little jingle that the package never had but the file that corrupted the email didn't work
[00:01:17] Now they're stuck with that a jingle singing our brains out
[00:01:21] Our brains out
[00:01:42] I
[00:01:43] See that movie long legs yet. No, okay
[00:01:48] That's the Nicholas K. Do you want right? Yeah, yeah, I'll get to it when it gets discreet
[00:01:53] Screaming services. I did a bunch of electrical work today. Oh, yeah, how'd that go good?
[00:01:59] It wasn't just your roots
[00:02:00] It wasn't just the the one that I just yeah, I don't know from it was I was all day at one of my co-workers
[00:02:06] House is doing a whole shit too. Yeah, he's he's one of the one of the dudes that gives me rides to work like all the time
[00:02:13] so
[00:02:14] He was like, what do I owe you and I was like
[00:02:18] I was like dude, you've helped me out so much like a case of beer. Yeah
[00:02:23] And yeah, and instead of just a case of beer he gave me an 18 pack of milliliter
[00:02:28] And the fucking largest bottle of vodka I have ever seen nice
[00:02:33] Yeah, it's like that sped co vodka. Oh, yeah. Yeah. It's so big it almost
[00:02:37] It's like it's like this close to not fitting on my liquor shelf
[00:02:42] I
[00:02:42] Yeah, yeah, so I was like, yeah, okay. Thanks. Lay he was like, yeah
[00:02:47] He's like, I don't know I've been doing so much liquor anymore
[00:02:51] He's like cuz he's like I have a couple of liquor drinks at home and then take an ambient to go to sleep and shit
[00:02:56] It's weird. Yeah
[00:03:00] He was like if I drink beer and wine that shit doesn't get weird
[00:03:08] And then go ahead then motherfucking
[00:03:12] Lutron I think is how their name
[00:03:15] company that makes dimmer switches
[00:03:18] Okay, so
[00:03:20] Official shout-out to Lutron here in in the worst possible way motherfuckers
[00:03:31] Why are you trying to reinvent the wheel?
[00:03:35] The wheel works well
[00:03:39] These fucking dicks dude, I should have been done that shit took me fucking an hour
[00:03:44] Something that should have taken me 10 to 20 minutes took me a fucking hour because these motherfuckers
[00:03:50] Decided to change the screw colors on three-way switches for no reason
[00:03:55] Just because yeah instead of a copper switch a brass switch and a black or not switch a screw
[00:04:02] Copper screw brass screw black screw. Yeah, no these motherfuckers got to make
[00:04:08] Two copper screws and one red screw and then when you figure out and then when you figure out what's what and you hook it up
[00:04:16] It's wrong because for whatever reason they made their switches
[00:04:21] To hook a three-way switch up is like
[00:04:23] Different than every other three-way switch that's ever been made in the history of three-way switches
[00:04:29] For what?
[00:04:31] right
[00:04:32] So I had to I had to like, you know just start trying combinations
[00:04:38] And of course I get the right combination on the last possible try mathematically
[00:04:46] I was like what I went on reddit. I was like what
[00:04:49] The fuck is going on here?
[00:04:52] Sharon it's Kurt's neighbor, you know
[00:04:54] Okay. Yeah. Yeah, so
[00:04:56] Kurt gave you right home, but like
[00:04:57] I'm like, I'm sorry Sharon like I'm learning tonight right now
[00:05:01] I don't know why because I was like I'm on reddit right now trying to figure out why and everyone on reddit's going
[00:05:06] Yeah, these guys tried to reinvent the wheel for no reason. You have to wire up a three-way switch
[00:05:11] differently for no fucking reason whatsoever
[00:05:14] And I'm like fucking they're like you just have to figure out what what the two switch legs and what the power
[00:05:19] So I'm like fuck so I gotta take the whole fucking thing out and start go turn breakers on and off test fucking
[00:05:24] Yeah, one of the first biggest decisions I've ever made in my life and I still kind of regrets
[00:05:31] It's hard to say I regret it because the way my life has turned out
[00:05:34] But it's something that I always look back on and like wonder but like so my grandfather was an electrician
[00:05:39] among other things that you know outside of the legal realm
[00:05:45] His legal job was and he was an electrician. He was an electrician. That was his job from six to two
[00:05:51] He clamped car batteries to people's nipples the other job that kept them out from two to midnight. That's another story but
[00:06:02] But when I graduated high school
[00:06:05] He was he was gonna get me into local three the uh, electures the new york city
[00:06:10] Elections union. Oh dude, they paid fucking well. Yeah
[00:06:15] Um, so when I was coming out of high school, you know, my grades were shitty in high school
[00:06:18] and so I was like
[00:06:21] I remember talking to my dad is like look
[00:06:24] You can go to college
[00:06:26] And the reason I got into college was my grandfather
[00:06:29] Talked to the dean at some
[00:06:31] This it's all so sketchy. Anyway, he could have got me he could have got me into local three and I
[00:06:37] I went the
[00:06:39] You made the right decision
[00:06:41] Did I yeah, you did you sure? Yeah. Yeah
[00:06:45] I don't know getting into local three at the age of 17. You made the right decision. Okay
[00:06:50] You did you did being a man being an electrician is a miserable existence
[00:06:55] um
[00:06:56] But it could lead to like, you know owning your own business and
[00:07:00] Dude, so here's here's the reason why I left
[00:07:04] Okay electrical world after five years. All right because I didn't see a future. I mean
[00:07:10] I mean, you know, I'm just can stare in the mirror if I can say in this but like
[00:07:14] I didn't see the future that I wanted. There's definitely a future there
[00:07:17] Yeah, but if you end up owning your own business
[00:07:21] In in the electrical world all I saw
[00:07:25] In the electrical field from people that own their own business businesses. Yeah was dudes that literally worked 24 seven
[00:07:32] Yeah, yeah, they made a lot of money
[00:07:35] But they they had no time or no way to do anything with it
[00:07:39] They were all just like banking money for their family
[00:07:42] For when they died and working
[00:07:45] themselves to death
[00:07:47] Yeah
[00:07:49] I that's not that's not what I want out of life. Right, right, right. Yeah, that's
[00:07:54] Yeah, it's just what it would have been interesting. I wish there was a way you can just kind of go back and just like
[00:08:00] Watch like a two-hour movie of what would have happened to your life
[00:08:02] Had you have picked a certain thing because my grandfather was also grooming me to be a bookie
[00:08:07] So like had I gone the local three round it wouldn't have just been local three
[00:08:11] It would have been at least he taught you good money skills. Yeah, I might have been in prison by now
[00:08:15] You know how to balance a checkbook better than a fucking high school or no
[00:08:20] Not that anybody has to balance a checkbook
[00:08:24] I I remember would have been some new york city guido
[00:08:33] I
[00:08:34] Remember back in those days when everybody was like you gotta learn how to balance a checkbook and I'm like
[00:08:38] I do it in my head and people are like no, you can't do it in your head
[00:08:42] You're gonna mess up and I was like no like I don't think you guys understand like this is how I work
[00:08:48] If I write things down
[00:08:49] It gets fucked up if I just use my head. I remember everything. I remember phone numbers. I remember numbers
[00:08:56] That's just how my brain works. I have a rain man number thing too
[00:08:59] Like yeah, and people would be like, okay balance checkbook and I I just immediately have the exact number
[00:09:06] Of money that was in my bank account
[00:09:08] And these other people would be going to and they'd all be wrong and mine would be to the scent
[00:09:12] I'm like told you
[00:09:15] It's in my head
[00:09:16] It's simple math. Like I remember numbers. I don't know
[00:09:19] I don't know why I remember numbers. I just do I used to have like a rolodex of like
[00:09:25] Hundreds of phone numbers in my brain. Yep back when you had to remember that
[00:09:29] Like I was the guy everybody in fucking high school. Everybody was like matt what's son's phone number and I'd be like
[00:09:35] Yeah, okay cool. Thanks. Yeah
[00:09:39] That's the human phone book. It was dude. I think we're a rain man. Yeah
[00:09:45] What are you drinking? Uh, I got some uh finishing off some white claws that I
[00:09:51] dug into last night while recording other podcasts nice
[00:09:57] Yeah, if you want to listen to me talk some bullshit about music
[00:10:02] I'll be on the the roundtable episode of the struggling artist podcast in uh
[00:10:08] Uh, I think it's the september episode
[00:10:12] Was it once a month?
[00:10:13] Yeah, they do. Yeah, they do the the roundtable one once a month and I believe it's the september one
[00:10:20] Whenever that I don't know what date that'll come out. But you know when I learned that information
[00:10:24] Tell everybody we'll pass it along. Yeah, I did the uh struggling artist podcast

[00:10:32] um
[00:10:34] Traps holding in so so we're going down to record with joe in two weeks and he's gonna hold it until I have an actual song ready that
[00:10:40] He can oh cool. Yeah, I know. I know you recorded an episode with him. But yeah, yeah
[00:10:45] I like trav. He's a good dude. Oh, he's awesome. He's a real good dude
[00:10:49] Yeah, he might try to come down for a december 7th show

[00:12:05] I said I got I got a part in there for you buddy. So don't don't you work
[00:12:09] I saw your test footage
[00:12:11] Or at least some stills from
[00:12:14] Nice speaking of I watched chum
[00:12:17] I loved it
[00:12:19] Yeah, and then I told my daughter about it. She sent me a picture of
[00:12:23] Her and her roommates on the couch
[00:12:26] With chum on in the background
[00:12:29] Awesome
[00:12:31] It's funny too because I went to um
[00:12:34] I went to happy's for the first time uh on sat no sunday night in a while
[00:12:40] Uh, we went to go grab um
[00:12:44] Some to pregame a few drinks before the
[00:12:47] The second of two nights of 40 reps and steel boy. Yeah, that was that was the best show of the weekend
[00:12:53] by the way
[00:12:54] The the fucking the show that was in the madam oddities garage here in freddicksburg on sunday night
[00:12:59] That was the best show of all three I went to last weekend
[00:13:03] Way better than ours
[00:13:05] The bans were amazing who played with the ambulance review that first that was the first show right that was friday night
[00:13:10] So it was supposed to be gti
[00:13:12] Okay, um, but cable their singer cable uh tour his fucking bicep that day
[00:13:18] Ow, so he couldn't play so gti didn't play so they got
[00:13:22] They got a another local band from around here called um in
[00:13:27] Incom inconsolable. I believe inconsolable. Okay
[00:13:31] Got it. It could be wrong. I need to I need to not be
[00:13:35] Wrong about this
[00:13:37] In can no in
[00:13:39] Ah, I I hate that I am not remembering
[00:13:42] I
[00:13:46] Oh the princess bride what a
[00:13:48] Oh classic what a fantastic fucking movie
[00:13:52] It's the only good the only good thing rob reiner's ever done in his life
[00:13:57] Especially lately
[00:13:59] After that band played then it was uh, love roses
[00:14:03] Who were amazing as always?
[00:14:05] Uh
[00:14:06] Carlius three piece band I've ever seen live like Collin was on his a game too. He had the cop shades on and was
[00:14:13] And was uh, yeah, and it was uh, you know, I think I think he had had a few beers before he got there
[00:14:20] Like Collin was on fire
[00:14:22] and uh
[00:14:26] Yeah, and they they played a new song too and that new song fucking kicked ass
[00:14:31] uh
[00:14:32] I yeah, I can't wait to go down and see them in Richmond again. Um
[00:14:37] Because when they play in Richmond like
[00:14:40] There's people down there that
[00:14:41] Are like fans of them and like their shows in Richmond are just off the hook
[00:14:45] I
[00:14:46] I hate that when they play outside of Richmond that the shows aren't their shows aren't off the hook
[00:14:51] And everybody and mostly everybody's usually just like oh these guys are fucking rad
[00:14:55] Although I will say the basement here the crawl space when they play the crawl space here in fredexburg those shows are fucking off the hook
[00:15:02] Yeah, quick question for you because I know we're both fans of the n l east
[00:15:06] I'm currently watching braves fillies
[00:15:09] As a nationals fan, which of those two teams do you detest more the braves of the fillies?
[00:15:15] Phillies
[00:15:16] Really, okay. Oh, it will always be the Philadelphia. Okay when you say
[00:15:21] What team do you have the you have the red skin thing too? It's the Philadelphia. Okay. Yeah
[00:15:26] In all across all sport. Well
[00:15:30] Not hockey
[00:15:32] I detest the penguins more
[00:15:34] Okay, in hockey than I do the flyers, but man the fires are a close second
[00:15:38] I'm a jet fan. So I don't have that automatic Philly hate like you do but I get it. I totally get it
[00:15:44] It's not even the flyers as a team
[00:15:47] Yeah, it's the fan base. It's the fans. Yes. I've experienced it. Yeah, I've been it's the fucking fans
[00:15:54] I have AIDS
[00:15:57] Speaking of philly fans, yeah
[00:16:00] um
[00:16:02] Yeah, I don't know man. Like I guess as a met fan. I definitely you know living under the
[00:16:08] umbrella of brave supremacy for two decades was tough
[00:16:13] But there's something about the fillies that I just fucking hate. I hate their faces
[00:16:17] I look at them and I want to punch them all in the taint
[00:16:20] I don't know what it is only it's long hair and their beards and they're like just
[00:16:24] It's weird too because every time so, uh, you know, they've got some of those cool like throwback
[00:16:30] Unis that lb does now
[00:16:32] They're doing now. Yeah, they are wearing the blue with the pee with I love those fucking. Oh, great
[00:16:38] I've loved them in the 80s and I love them even more now
[00:16:41] And what a fucking travesty that that fucking organization hasn't just been like, yeah, these are gonna be our fucking permanent
[00:16:48] Jersey, like what are you doing? Yeah
[00:16:51] Those are the best some of the best uniforms in sports history
[00:16:55] Yeah, fucking maroon and fucking bright ass baby blue. Yeah, that's what they're wearing right now. Yeah, it's fucking amazing
[00:17:02] Why would you not make those your regular?
[00:17:06] Yeah, like I I went from
[00:17:09] When I was in second third and fourth grade
[00:17:13] I lived right across the street from veteran stadium
[00:17:16] So every time there was a fillies game, you know, people would park illegally behind our apartment complex
[00:17:22] So I kind of grew up with the fillies
[00:17:25] um
[00:17:26] I would only actually go to games every now and then if the Mets were playing and my dad would take me to MET games
[00:17:31] because you know, he's a new worker, but
[00:17:35] I and I and as far as the Eagles and my wife is a Philadelphia fan. She's from Philly. So I'm a
[00:17:42] I don't hate I'm a bit of an Eagles fan
[00:17:45] So I don't have that I don't have the double sport hatred like you do it
[00:17:48] We'll try to understand like I mean, I'm a dc all the way
[00:17:50] Yeah, yeah, and I totally get that. Yeah, we we are natural enemies dc and filly
[00:17:56] Sportswise. Yeah. Yeah
[00:17:58] Yeah, I think chipper jones if I think of his face
[00:18:01] I think I hate the braves more than the fillies
[00:18:04] Oh
[00:18:05] killer and that motherfucker named his kids shea just to rub it in our fucking face
[00:18:09] I love that dude, man. I fucking love it. I respect the fuck out of him now
[00:18:15] I hated that motherfucker growing up
[00:18:17] I hate the break like I well, I used to like the braves
[00:18:20] But then when the gnats happened before when I was an orioles fan before the nationals existed
[00:18:25] I love the braves. Yeah
[00:18:29] They were the team of the south the braves. Yeah
[00:18:32] Yeah, oh, I was all for the braves the braves the skins were the team of the south
[00:18:37] Yeah, they were
[00:18:38] Yeah, which is crazy considering they're dc
[00:18:41] But they were like they were the fuck it was like the it was like the skins and then the fucking dolphins and then Florida
[00:18:47] Yeah, yeah
[00:18:50] You know, uh chipper jones, man
[00:18:54] Larry his name is larry that tobacco chew and ask motherfucker. Oh, yeah, we used to call him a whole yellow tooth
[00:19:01] Who he had the gnarliest teeth, man? Yeah, he did
[00:19:03] Oh gnarliest teeth. He did he got he got him whitened after after he either that or
[00:19:09] Yeah, or he's got like slowly came back
[00:19:14] Yeah, man, I love that dude. He's awesome
[00:19:18] No, like I said, I respect the fuck out of him now, but I fucking hated that he was probably my most hated
[00:19:23] Oh, he's professional athlete of all time growing up. He's one of the best switchers of all time. Oh my god
[00:19:29] He was a met slayer slayer. Yeah
[00:19:32] Oh, he was an everybody slayer. I know but yeah, but yeah, he he particularly hated the best
[00:19:39] Which I get
[00:19:43] Um, yeah
[00:19:46] Oh, you're just watching a filly's braves. Yeah, I'm just like
[00:19:49] I don't know. I just wish a bomb would strike the stadium
[00:19:52] I think I still hate that braves more than the fillies a little bit
[00:19:59] Especially since right now the Mets are in a wild card race with them
[00:20:04] Um
[00:20:05] Yeah, I think they're two back
[00:20:07] You got a guy from us at the trade deadline who has worked out pretty well for you guys. Yeah, uh jesse winker
[00:20:13] Yeah, yeah, he's he's been I think he's your generally been like your dh against right-handed pitchers
[00:20:19] Yep. Yeah, wait, I I hated to see that guy go
[00:20:23] But we signed him for fucking cheap front of one year deal and flipped him for like a
[00:20:29] Pretty good prospect from you guys. So yeah, I was I like that dude that dude's a fucking ball player though
[00:20:35] I think he actually still has another year of
[00:20:37] Control maybe we signed him to a two-year deal
[00:20:40] I don't think he's just a rental for you guys actually. Yeah, well winker rules dude. He's just a rad dude. Yeah, that's cool
[00:20:49] Yeah
[00:20:50] I'm cheering for winker even though, you know
[00:20:53] I hate the Mets because i'm a nats fan, but yeah
[00:20:55] If you guys make the playoffs like i'm definitely cheering a little bit for the Mets
[00:21:00] Well, if we make the playoffs that means the braves didn't make the playoffs probably
[00:21:04] Yeah, because the fillies are just fucking running away with it
[00:21:07] Bastards fucking asshole, right?
[00:21:10] Did you see do you see though the nats called up dylan cruise?
[00:21:14] Oh, did they?
[00:21:15] Yeah, we have so we had going into this season. We had two of the top five prospects in major league baseball
[00:21:22] James James wood who got called up back in fucking
[00:21:28] The beginning of july
[00:21:30] Who who so far now?
[00:21:33] Since he got called up he leads our team in rbi's he leads our team in batting average
[00:21:40] This kid is fucking ridiculously good and then dylan cruise just got called up and uh
[00:21:47] Fucking in his third game second game second game
[00:21:51] Third game and his third game. He fucking
[00:21:54] They they let him off in his third game and he leads the game off with a home run his first major league baseball home run
[00:21:59] Yeah, and um
[00:22:01] Yeah, and imagine what that must feel like dude. Can you imagine like just jeez it's fucking
[00:22:06] But this this was the guy that was taken number two last year behind paul skeens
[00:22:11] And and everybody thought that dylan cruise was gonna be number one the whole season up until
[00:22:17] The um the college baseball world series when skeens just killed it. Yeah
[00:22:21] Well up until the college baseball world series because cruise was also on lsu
[00:22:26] They were teammates at lsu cruise was there right cruise was like the unanimous number one overall draft pick all season long
[00:22:34] Yeah, nobody could touch him and then skeens had what he did in the world series
[00:22:39] And the pirates took him one overall and so we got cruise with two
[00:22:44] And uh, yeah three games in he's already killing it
[00:22:48] I haven't really paid i've never paid attention to college baseball until this past season because kentucky
[00:22:54] Was pretty good this past season so I watched some of their games
[00:22:58] But uh, I just I I don't like the metal bats
[00:23:03] Yeah, I know like it is weird if you're if you're grooming these people for the majors
[00:23:09] why
[00:23:10] Are we didn't swear that college still uses metal bats and college? Yeah, because like rice harper
[00:23:16] played in an all wood bat league when he was 17
[00:23:21] against grown ass men it was essentially a professional league
[00:23:26] and and he
[00:23:27] Wiped everyone off the fucking face of the planet at 17 in a wood bat league. Yeah
[00:23:32] That's that's why he was called the librona baseball if you if you go look at his stats that year
[00:23:37] What was that like a semi pro like what was he doing with?
[00:23:39] It was a um
[00:23:41] It's a professional league
[00:23:44] that
[00:23:45] That like mirrors college baseball, but it's like
[00:23:49] So so think like you know
[00:23:51] You know how they have those weird leagues in the minors where it's like like the florida
[00:23:55] Or like the arizona summer league and like like the g league and mba something like that. Yeah, it's
[00:24:03] It's uh
[00:24:04] I would have to look it up and read a little bit about it, but it's a it's a weird thing
[00:24:08] So it's like if you don't go to college, but basically yeah, it's kind of like think of it kind of like juniors and hockey up in canada
[00:24:15] Mm-hmm
[00:24:17] Okay, same same kind of deal
[00:24:19] um
[00:24:21] But harper at 17 years old playing against dudes and they're like early to mid 20s
[00:24:27] Just like wrecked shop in that league
[00:24:30] Like if you go look at his stats for the year he played that you you your mind would be blown
[00:24:35] Like it's fucking crazy. You're like wow this dude in a wood bat league
[00:24:39] This kid was 17 playing against 27 year olds and he did that. Yeah
[00:24:43] Yeah
[00:24:44] Harper's a beast and I hate the motherfucker. He's he's a fucking beast
[00:24:49] Yeah, I mean he is like he I mean he won
[00:24:52] He won an MVP with us. Yeah
[00:24:55] He I do love that you guys won the world series right after he left. Yeah, I fucking love it because he's such a dick
[00:25:01] Like he's a beast, but he's such a dick
[00:25:03] That made me smile a little bit
[00:25:06] When Jonathan pabblebond punched him in the fucking dugout too that one time that was that shit was
[00:25:13] That's the moment I knew I was like he looks like a dick
[00:25:16] He comes off as a dick, but is he really a dick?
[00:25:19] I know the media tries and then that whole thing and I was like, oh, yeah
[00:25:21] If it walks like a dick and talks like a dick is probably a dick because jonathan pabblebond's a dick
[00:25:26] And if you're a dick to a dick, you're getting
[00:25:30] Yeah, totally
[00:25:31] I do appreciate what harper did for us. You know, yeah, yeah
[00:25:36] Just like just like one soto man people fucking here love one soto god
[00:25:41] They love one soto and and for whatever reason
[00:25:43] Nats fans
[00:25:44] There's so many of nats fans who think that we're gonna resign one soto this off season. It's coming back to dc
[00:25:51] Guys, is he still in san diego?
[00:25:54] No, he's he's with the yankees yankees. That's right. Yeah, fucking killing it this year with the yankees my god
[00:25:59] dude
[00:26:01] three four five in the yankees batting order is
[00:26:05] Soto judge stanton murderers row
[00:26:08] Dude
[00:26:12] And and and we just played a three game series with the yankees and we beat them two games to one
[00:26:18] and we kept
[00:26:20] So they soto
[00:26:22] Judge stanton hit three four five in all three games
[00:26:26] And we kept them to three for 34. Wow. Yeah
[00:26:32] We fucked them up in new york too. Yeah, I hate the yankees more than I hate the braves and the fillies
[00:26:39] Oh
[00:26:40] No, i'm sorry that wasn't in new york. It was in dc. It was dc. Yeah, it was in dc. Yeah, because uh
[00:26:44] Because soto the first for soto's first at bat
[00:26:49] Um, the entire stadium was fucking packed. It was mostly yankees fans. Um, yeah
[00:26:54] Yeah, but yeah, um when soto came out for his first at bat like the whole fucking stadium
[00:26:59] Just like erupted and gave him a standing ovation
[00:27:01] That's nice
[00:27:02] Like the soto love in that series was fucking real man. It was like basically every time he was coming to bat
[00:27:07] Yeah, that's cool. People here loved that dude. Yeah
[00:27:10] I mean he didn't help
[00:27:13] He did he won us that world series. Yeah, he did
[00:27:16] Because he put us into the playoffs with that fucking hit. We were down two to one
[00:27:21] To the brewers
[00:27:23] In the wild card game the the you know winning your end play-in game
[00:27:27] in the fucking top of the eight
[00:27:30] And soto was up with runners on fucking second and third with two outs
[00:27:34] Yeah, and fucking hits a base hit the right field and gives us lead and we end up winning the game. Yeah
[00:27:39] With the most historic fucking world series run of all time, dude
[00:27:44] Like I can I can actually claim that as a nats fan. We were it must be nice
[00:27:48] I don't know if I'll ever see a world series or super bowl for my side. I don't I don't think I will
[00:27:53] I honestly don't think I ever will on on fucking
[00:27:57] May
[00:27:58] I can't remember it was at the end of end of may may 30th. I think we were we were 19 and 31
[00:28:07] And we won the world series
[00:28:10] Yeah, that's crazy. Yeah, it's created. No, it's never happened
[00:28:14] That is that is the farthest under 500 the team has ever come back made the playoffs and then won the world series
[00:28:20] Yeah, I would bet if I if I had like a thousand bucks and I had to bet
[00:28:26] I would bet that I will that
[00:28:29] If I lived to 80 years old because I'm 46 right now
[00:28:33] I would definitely bet a thousand dollars that I would never see a mets or jets championship
[00:28:41] I think I think the jets might do it this year. I think this is coming year might
[00:28:45] What was that one? When was last time the mets one 86 86? Yeah. Yeah, the fucking buckner, right? Yeah. Yeah
[00:28:53] Build the fucking billbuck or guy 86 69 86
[00:28:59] Um
[00:29:00] That might six nine eight six may or may not be my
[00:29:04] in my
[00:29:06] debit card
[00:29:08] Yeah, fucking gary Carter Darrell strawberry
[00:29:10] Dude, I was like that just saying those names was me a boner dude. That's yeah
[00:29:15] That was my childhood that 86 mets team Keith. Now when I was a kid, I didn't know that they were
[00:29:20] wholly charged up by coke
[00:29:22] um
[00:29:23] I learned that later which is makes it even more rad but like
[00:29:27] Dude dot good in Darrell strawberry
[00:29:30] Uh,
[00:29:31] Make it say Keith Hernandez
[00:29:32] I'm trying to think if I could remember their entire starting nine
[00:29:36] Oh, okay. This is how much of a baseball fan. I knew my cousin were when we were kids. Okay
[00:29:41] We used to we used to I know it so say it and I'll let you the entire starting nine. Yeah
[00:29:46] Okay, so your catcher was gary Carter. Uh,
[00:29:50] Your number one pitcher was dot good
[00:29:53] Yep
[00:29:55] Uh, your starting
[00:30:00] Let's see here. I'm thinking outfield your
[00:30:03] Strawberry was either left field or right field, but we'll just say outfield. He was right field. Yeah. Um
[00:30:13] Keith Hernandez was your first baseman
[00:30:18] Fucking
[00:30:22] Howard Johnson, I think was
[00:30:25] Technically your third baseman, but he jumped around a lot. He also played some second and I believe he also played some first that season
[00:30:32] Yep, um, but I will I'll say third baseman because I believe he primarily he played more third than any other position. Yes
[00:30:40] Um
[00:30:44] Oh man. Okay second base
[00:30:47] Why can I not remember this dude's name? Oh my god. I can see his fucking face in my head
[00:30:56] And your shortstop oh man, I may
[00:31:01] I may not get this
[00:31:06] Oh, I love that you knew hojo. That's awesome. Yeah
[00:31:10] Your shortstop is somebody that I should know both
[00:31:12] Both the shortstop and the second baseman are guys that I should know because they're both like right on the tip of my tongue
[00:31:17] And I feel like I can see them both
[00:31:20] Because you know as a baseball card collector
[00:31:23] um
[00:31:24] with center field
[00:31:27] Center fielder maybe
[00:31:30] Tough was uh, was this back when fucking uh
[00:31:33] Was Lenny Dykstra on the mess at this point in time. He was but he so Dykstra
[00:31:41] Was he was he like your fourth outfielder? Yeah, maybe
[00:31:45] Because I feel like Lenny Dykstra was on my team. Maybe he wasn't
[00:31:48] Yeah, you're you're you're I that's yeah, I lost it. Dykstra did play center field. Um,
[00:31:55] Wally Backman was the second baseman
[00:31:56] Dude, I'm going Wally Backman was the yeah the second base. Yes. Yeah. Yeah, I knew I like I know
[00:32:05] Right on the tip of my tongue
[00:32:07] Who was the I'm actually having a problem with the shortstop
[00:32:09] I dude, it's another name that's like right on my and I keep wanting to say like Mike Lansing
[00:32:14] But that's not fucking it. I know that's not fucking it. So ray knight played third base
[00:32:19] but
[00:32:21] Wally
[00:32:23] Because I know you know Hojo was all over the place that season was all over the place
[00:32:27] Yeah, he probably played left field a good bit too as well. Yeah, and rafael Santana played shortstop a lot
[00:32:34] Um
[00:32:36] Hojo was like the ultimate utility guy man. Like he was awesome dude Hojo ruled. Yeah, he was so cool. Yeah
[00:32:44] um
[00:32:46] Who the fuck was the
[00:32:48] The permanent center fielder was so they're saying Lenny Dykstra was I thought it was mookie wilson
[00:32:53] Oh mookie wilson was on that team mookie wilson was on that team
[00:32:56] He wasn't was a center fielder, but maybe by then it was dykstra
[00:33:01] Uh
[00:33:01] Are you sure wilson didn't play like one of them didn't play left a bunch mookie wilson may have played left field a lot
[00:33:07] So I'm so i'm looking at fox sports. There here's what they're saying. Lenny dykstra center field
[00:33:12] Okay, wally backman second base
[00:33:15] Keith and end his first base gary carter catcher
[00:33:19] daryl strawberry right field
[00:33:22] uh ray knight third base
[00:33:25] Ray knights so ray knights the guy who came in okay mookie wilson's left field
[00:33:29] So it was so mookie dykstra was the starter. So dykstra was a center fielder. Mookie was a left fielder at that
[00:33:36] Okay, so I got dykstra. Yeah, so but mookie was the center fielder up until okay, so the rafael santana was the shortstop
[00:33:43] I wonder if they did they pick
[00:33:45] Lenny dykstra up at the trade deadline that year
[00:33:47] Maybe maybe because I know
[00:33:49] Mookie definitely was a center fielder for the month. I bet you that's what happened
[00:33:53] I bet you they picked up dykstra at the trade deadline and moved mookie to left
[00:33:57] Because dykstra was fucking the shit out there in center field. I love dykstra. He's such an asshole though. Oh, yeah
[00:34:05] He was the perfect philadelphia phil. Oh, he yeah totally
[00:34:11] Yeah, so ray knight was so so I guess hojo
[00:34:14] Dikes was only 23 when they won the world series in 86
[00:34:17] Yeah, because he went to the filly's ass
[00:34:19] Maybe maybe he was just a rookie
[00:34:21] Maybe he got put in later in the year maybe and he was doing well
[00:34:24] Maybe that's what it was because he went to the fillies after that because he spent most of his career. Yeah
[00:34:29] He went to the fillies in 89
[00:34:31] So maybe fucking um, I guess hojo was actually their utility guy. He must have been yeah
[00:34:38] Yeah, you just got plugged in when people got injured. Yeah. Yeah
[00:34:44] Ray knight. Yeah, that was such a great team and
[00:34:46] Because ray knight became an announcer for the nationals. I always forget that ray knight was on that fucking team
[00:34:52] Yeah, he don't ray knight is the guy who came in to score and that buckner. Yeah. Yeah. Yep. That's right
[00:34:58] Yeah, I always forget that ray knight was on that fucking team. That's right
[00:35:01] He was the third baseman and now that you're saying that's I remember because he would talk about it sometimes when he was in the national
[00:35:07] Soundcheck. I love that dude is our color. Yeah. Yeah, he was good. He was he was there before before we hired rob dibble
[00:35:14] Oh, he was the fucking worst then rob dibble got himself fired. Yeah
[00:35:20] I wonder why
[00:35:22] Yeah, ray knight was awesome. Yeah, I love
[00:35:25] I definitely like watching because he would tell those stories every now and then when I would watch nationals games
[00:35:30] Yeah, when he was yeah
[00:35:34] Yeah, he's the guy who came in to score with that buckner
[00:35:37] Yep
[00:35:38] Yeah, because mookie hit it. I think then yeah mookie hit it one and then I just ray knight like just run in like
[00:35:46] I remember he was like arms. Yeah, just
[00:35:49] Yeah, because that was like game six because it was still a game seven. Yeah, there's still a game seven
[00:35:53] So it wasn't all on buckner. You got you boss and assholes who treated him like complete shit
[00:35:59] Talking about another cunty fucking fan base bosson
[00:36:04] All you guys you
[00:36:06] friendly boston fans are the fucking worst. Have you ever been to fenway?
[00:36:11] You gotta have been too fenway, but I've never been at a game in fenway
[00:36:14] You gotta go to a ballgame at fenway dude. It's it's it's it's unreal. It's it's insane that baseball stadium is
[00:36:23] Fucking amazing. Yeah, it's still every year gets voted the best baseball stadium
[00:36:28] And if you go there you understand why that place is just like
[00:36:34] When it when they finally
[00:36:37] Actually get another stadium fenway will become a museum
[00:36:40] Oh, yeah, yeah, I'm like what you know the Yankees should have done with the old Yankee stadium
[00:36:44] I I have been to the old Yankee stadium. I cannot believe I was there the last year
[00:36:51] For some reason, I don't know how I never made it before that but I was at the old Yankee stadium the last year
[00:36:56] Um, we're a bet. How do you tear that down?
[00:36:59] unbelievable
[00:37:01] unbelievable
[00:37:02] The history. I mean, yeah, uh the people who played at that stadium
[00:37:08] Jesus. Yeah, that's
[00:37:10] That's like setting. Like it was kind of like the same with like ebbets field
[00:37:14] They tear that down
[00:37:16] Yeah, put up a fucking projects, right? You know
[00:37:19] Yeah
[00:37:20] Fucking how do you tear that down? I I hope that one day
[00:37:27] That um
[00:37:28] Out in LA that Dodger stadium
[00:37:31] That they decide to redo the outfield walls because you know that stadium
[00:37:37] technically
[00:37:38] It actually ends up in like the top 10
[00:37:42] Of like best stadiums every year
[00:37:44] But it's so boring to look at for from a fans perspective
[00:37:50] In terms of like the field
[00:37:51] Yeah, because the
[00:37:53] It's just some metrics out in the outfield. Yeah, like I hope that someday that they decide because
[00:38:00] Ball clubs do this all the time they move
[00:38:02] Oh, yeah, the Mets did it. They make city field
[00:38:05] Taller they make I mean the Orioles just did it before last season where they moved
[00:38:10] They made the left field wall taller and made it farther away. Yeah, it's completely different in left field. Yeah, um
[00:38:17] It'd be like, you know
[00:38:19] Because it was kind of like a short portion left just like in yankee stadium
[00:38:23] Short portion right and they kind of pushed it back a little bit made the wall taller
[00:38:27] so like
[00:38:29] conceivably
[00:38:31] You know, houston changed theirs too. Remember they used to have the hill with the
[00:38:34] That was weird. That was such a weird thing
[00:38:38] Like what are you guys doing? Oh old Yankee stadium had fucking like monuments in the outfield
[00:38:43] Yeah, one point in the 70s and 80s. Yes. They did. Yeah, you had to dodge the monument
[00:38:49] Yeah, it's like what are you guys doing? There's like you're fucking
[00:38:52] This we're playing a fucking game here. You guys
[00:38:54] You could yeah, it's we can go on youtube and look up highlights of people running into them too. Yeah
[00:38:59] It's crazy. Yeah
[00:39:03] It's hilarious. And then the ivy and fucking at uh, what's it called? Wrigley? Wrigley. Yeah
[00:39:08] It's like the ball gets stuck in there and you have to wave like hey the ball's stuck in the ivy
[00:39:12] Yeah, Detroit brought the fences in I I missed Detroit's old stadium. Detroit's old stadium was just fucking badass
[00:39:19] their new ones is definitely really nice but like
[00:39:22] I don't know. They're their old one was iconic. Their new one is not iconic. It's just nice. Which is cool
[00:39:29] um
[00:39:31] But like they brought the fences in San Diego brought the fences in
[00:39:34] The Mets brought the fences in
[00:39:37] The Mets brought the fences in and they extend their Mets. What's his name from the Phillies?
[00:39:45] second baseman
[00:39:47] Not there anymore. This is
[00:39:50] probably
[00:39:51] 2010 15-ish
[00:39:53] Yeah, Chase Utley chase Utley
[00:39:55] Oh, yeah
[00:39:56] Chase Utley saw the city field and was like home run home run home run home run and like all right
[00:40:01] We're changing this wall for fuck because I'm fucking chase Utley you fuck
[00:40:08] So
[00:40:10] Chase Utley was bunting home runs over the right field wall like
[00:40:13] so
[00:40:17] Why can't the Dodgers and I could conceivably see this happening but I but I'll call him out right now
[00:40:23] Why not just turn the outfield fences in Dodger Stadium
[00:40:27] Into something similar to ebbets field
[00:40:30] Yeah
[00:40:31] Why not it's it's boring. It's fuck to look at right now
[00:40:35] It's it's actual bleachers out there. Yeah, you could change
[00:40:39] I know that they kind of keep those to be a little bit nostalgic which is
[00:40:42] Which is cool. Like I get that part
[00:40:45] but like
[00:40:46] Ebbets field had like one of the most iconic outfields
[00:40:49] Ever and like you guys have the chance out there to just to because the stadium's built into a hill on the other side
[00:40:56] Yeah
[00:40:56] And the back in the outfield wall is just symmetrical and stupid
[00:41:01] And it's just bleachers behind there and that's like the part of the stadium
[00:41:05] I know that the palm trees are back there that looks like the 70s still and they kind of like revel in that
[00:41:11] but like
[00:41:12] yeah
[00:41:14] The you
[00:41:16] Ebbets field is like was rad as
[00:41:20] Fuck and you could totally make like a tall scoreboard thing in right field kind of like what the o's have currently
[00:41:26] Yeah, yeah that that that the thing that the o's the scoreboard right field kind of reminds me of the ebbets field
[00:41:32] Yep, always has you know, and uh
[00:41:36] They could totally do that
[00:41:38] I will say the la sports fans are like way better than people in la that aren't sports fans. Yeah
[00:41:45] I have I've never had a bad experience with an la sports man. They've always been like chill
[00:41:51] I've never been to it. I don't think let me think about this for a second before I say it. I don't I've
[00:41:58] So when I lived in california, I lived up north in monterey. I went to a golden state warriors game
[00:42:03] I've been to a san francisco 49ers game
[00:42:06] San francisco giants game
[00:42:10] I've never been to an la
[00:42:12] No, I've never been to an la pro sports game
[00:42:16] No, I have not in la but
[00:42:20] I have here in DC. I mean I had season tickets for the caps for fucking five years
[00:42:25] So I've definitely been to but like la sports fans are always
[00:42:30] They I'm sure there is some bad la sports fans if you're an la sports fan and you're listening and you're like oh
[00:42:35] This guy's dead rock like you you have to understand where I'm coming from
[00:42:39] New york and philadelphia
[00:42:41] Fans are things I have been around my entire life at sporting events. Yeah
[00:42:47] Your shitty la fans do not compare right and I've also and boston and boston. New york
[00:42:53] Yeah, you gotta do york philly and boss. They are it's weird being a jet fan and a med fan because
[00:42:59] We hate the yankees and the patriots
[00:43:02] But not necessarily the red socks. It's it's a weird thing
[00:43:07] You kind of get together with boston fans and baseball season, but not quite like football you can suck my dick
[00:43:14] I was I was uh, I was happy when the socks won the world series. I granted, you know, I have had family
[00:43:20] That lives in boston my entire life my cousins are like my brother and sister and they're giant red socks fans
[00:43:25] So when I was younger, you know, I always like oh, yeah, I was like cheered for for the socks
[00:43:29] Fuck the Yankees dude like and that that series
[00:43:31] I was in the navy when that when they came back from those three games to none
[00:43:35] Yeah, I remember I was it was in the navy and I was getting out
[00:43:38] I was going through medical and I was it was like my last year in
[00:43:41] And I wasn't really paying too much attention because I hate the fucking Yankees, but I was like
[00:43:48] I just remember that like once they got tied up. I was like, oh my god, dude this
[00:43:53] And I was like, you know the whole curse of the bambino and all that bullshit like
[00:43:58] That was a pretty crazy. What was that 2005?
[00:44:03] 2004 2004 it was 2004. Yeah. Yeah, I remember like uh, I went I was at um
[00:44:09] God 2004. Okay. Yeah, so that was in october. That was the that's the only time I have ever uh,
[00:44:16] The only time I ever moved back in
[00:44:18] With my mom after I left when I was 18 years old
[00:44:22] uh, I
[00:44:24] uh
[00:44:26] So remember when gas got all fucking crazy expensive in 2003 and 2004 for the first time ever
[00:44:33] It was like it's like four something a gallon. Yeah
[00:44:35] I was like commuting from the house. I lived in and Stafford
[00:44:39] To Fairfax every day to work for galleons for their wear for their warehouse and I had a fucking a gmc z71
[00:44:46] Like those big ass fucking
[00:44:48] 1992 yeah
[00:44:51] big crazy fucking truck and uh
[00:44:54] It started getting to the point where you know, I was making like 11 something an hour
[00:44:58] Which back in 2004 was actually that was great back in 2004. Yeah. Yeah. It's actually halfway decent
[00:45:04] And it started, uh, but you know, I was commuting like 45 minutes each way to work
[00:45:08] Maybe an hour of traffic shitty and like it when the gas skyrocketed it started becoming like I was basically
[00:45:15] Able to pay my bills and then paying
[00:45:19] Yeah, get back and forth to work. It had like nothing left over
[00:45:23] Uh, and the the lease was coming up on the house that we were living in and the rental property didn't want to renew our lease
[00:45:30] I wonder why we were yeah early 20s partiers
[00:45:35] Nobody will rent houses to kids
[00:45:39] Nowadays, um
[00:45:42] So they weren't gonna renew our lease so
[00:45:45] And I was like, I don't know what to fucking do because I'm all my money is my mom was just like, hey look
[00:45:50] Fucking quit your job in Fairfax
[00:45:55] Get some sort of shit job
[00:45:57] Around here. Yeah, live in live in my basement. You don't have to pay rent
[00:46:03] Until you figure your shit out. Yeah, and I was just like, yeah, okay. That's that's my that's my best option
[00:46:09] Yep, so that's when uh, I lived there for fucking I think five months or four from
[00:46:16] See we left at the end of july and I moved out like
[00:46:21] I think january
[00:46:22] Okay, yeah
[00:46:23] And I never did this because I had I had the whole basement
[00:46:26] It was like a man cave at my mom's house now
[00:46:30] And uh, I had I had gone upstairs to have dinner with my mom
[00:46:36] You know, so I didn't always do but we at least did a couple nights a week
[00:46:39] And uh, I turned the baseball game on because I didn't have tv down there. I just had like a playstation and dvd
[00:46:46] shit
[00:46:48] And I turned the game on
[00:46:50] And it was the game
[00:46:53] I guess it was game
[00:46:55] Four when the socks were down
[00:46:58] Three nothing and big poppy hit that. Yep hit the home run and extra innings to win the game or whatever
[00:47:04] Uh, so we ate dinner and like my mom went to bed and I was like still up watching that game
[00:47:08] Like pacing around the living room and I never like stayed up up there after like she went to bed
[00:47:13] It was like one of the few times and I think I even remember like
[00:47:18] I
[00:47:19] Look like making a bunch of noise
[00:47:20] You know when he hit the home run just out of excited
[00:47:23] Excitement and wake like waking my mom up and being like, oh, what are you doing that?
[00:47:26] You're in here. You're 25 years old. You're living with your mom. What is it now? That's crazy now because like
[00:47:32] I had already been on my own for like seven years. Yeah
[00:47:36] And now like the average age kids live with their parents now
[00:47:40] 46 47. Yeah
[00:47:41] Yeah, it's crazy
[00:47:45] Yeah, it's the only time I ever moved back into my mom's five months
[00:47:49] Crazy. Yeah. Yeah
[00:47:51] Well, we're gonna next week. We're gonna talk to travis
[00:47:55] and do our

[00:48:08] As soon as we're done recording this tonight, I am going to
[00:48:12] Get on the fantasy site and
[00:48:14] Drop everyone's teams and get all the keepers in place and and set the draft timer on the on the site as well
[00:48:21] Hell, yeah
[00:48:21] Do you want to make maybe a one once a year annual trip to uh

[00:48:32] Yeah, is that something you'd be into?
[00:48:34] There's something I would be into
[00:48:36] Yeah
[00:48:36] So that's always a Saturday before Thanksgiving. I think right isn't it always that weekend?
[00:48:41] I think I think that's correct. Yeah. Yeah, okay
[00:48:46] Hell yeah, that's that's so our brains heard podcast harvard yell
[00:48:53] The best I can't I can't believe that you're a harvard fan
[00:48:57] That's crazy
[00:48:59] Like I said up until like I went to college, you know, I rooted for harvard and navy because that's the two colleges
[00:49:03] My dad went to so
[00:49:04] That's crazy a harvard fan and a navy fan somehow you and I ended up in the harvard yell, but it's just by
[00:49:12] luck
[00:49:12] My uncle went to georgetown so
[00:49:15] College basketball season when I was a little kid. I would always refer georgetown
[00:49:18] Yeah, awesome because in the 80s they were rad. I was a huge georgetown fan
